4 hour Oscar telecast provides 3 real meaningful awards
LOS ANGELES – The 81st Academy Awards featured glitz, glam and an apparently easy-to-obtain Oscar statue for many of the visitors at the Ford Theater in downtown Los Angeles. The statue was so apparently devalued, that the ceremony started giving them away to spectators in order to keep up spirits during the 4 hour show.

With help from the Fontana Police Department, agents of Immigration and Customs Enforcement arrest 15 members of a drug ring that used hundreds of concrete statues of donkeys—that is: three-feet-tall, 100-pound garden decorations—to smuggle 1,800 pounds of marijuana into the Los Angeles area.
